Vintage 1970s Studio Art Pottery Vase: Moon & Sun Motif, Signed S-W

Beautiful studio pottery piece in black and beige. Is it a vase, a jar, or an urn? Around the circumference are the phases of the moon and sun at different positions. The lid has an opening cut notched into the side. It is a sturdy and well made piece that will compliment your home decor whether MCM, farmhouse, country, bohemian, rustic, primitive, or ????

Other pieces from this estate sale were dated from 1977-1980 and so this piece was likely made during that time frame.

Signed by artist - S-W (based on the other pieces in the collection, W stands for Woody)
Approximately 6.5” wide and 9” tall with lid). Imperfections were introduced when it was made, including a crack in the bottom (see pictures - it does not go through to the inside and therefore does not affect the structural integrity of the piece).
