1940s Clamshell Japanese Diorama

Very detailed scene of a couple standing on the bank of a river where 2 little boats go by. Behind them is a tree, bridge and a mill whose water wheel will turn. The top of the clamshell has an intricate dragon carved.

No chips or cracks.
Approximately 3” wide and 2” tall.
There is something a bit heavy and loose in the base, perhaps a small weight to keep it balanced.

Because this is a celluloid piece, it was likely made in the 1940s or earlier. And yes, it passed the celluloid test…I ran it under hot water for a few seconds and the mothball (aka camphor) smell was strong.
