Rarer Large Myers Double Point Lace Sad Iron: Antique Salesman Sample

This is the rarer ‘large’ Myers Double Point Lace Sad Iron (4.25” long). According to Judy Politzer's reference in the classic reference Tuesday's Children, Reuben Meyers was granted a patent for this pressing iron as a "lace iron", although it undoubtedly doubled as an iron small enough to be easily handled by a child. Hailing from Mount Joy, PA this iron is beautifully designed and manufactured to the same exacting standards of workmanship that the other assorted Meyers irons are known for.

Thus wonderful antique iron would be a perfect gift for the collector, or compliment your home or nursery decor whether shabby chic, farmhouse, country, primitive, rustic, barn, cabin or ???? It would also look lovely in a shadow box or make an unusual paper weight.

Stamped in iron is “Pat. May 21, 1895.
Patent #539,700. Inventor: Reuben J. Myers of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania.
Approximately 4” long, 2.25” wide, and 3.25” tall.
In great condition, but shows light rust, minor wear/tear and patina commiserate with age. I have also seen this referred to as a toy sad iron or salesman sample.
