Rare Antique Ridgways Coaching Days Round Serving Dish with Platinum band - English Transferware

$41.94

The beautiful Ridgway transferware handled serving dish or shallow bowl has stood the test of time. It features the art piece 'a breakdown taking on the mails.' Because of the glaze used, most of the Coaching Day’s pieces have crazing and this one is no exception. A beautiful home or kitchen accent piece.

No chips or cracks, but heavy crazing on the piece. Spot where reddish color is under the glaze.
8.5” from handle to handle, 6 ⅝” wide, and 1 ⅝” high at handle.
Art: 'a breakdown taking on the mails'
Silver lustre applied to handles and rim (aka platinum band)
Stamp on back: Scenes from Coaching Days and Coaching Ways by Special Permission of Macmillan & Co. Ltd., Ridgways England
“The Coaching Days and Coaching Ways series was created on an amber brown transferware pottery with black transfers. It was made in the 1890s to the 1920s. The series features illustrations chosen from ones by Hugh Thomson & Herbert Railton, that were contained in the book “Coaching Days and Coaching Ways” by W. Outram Tristram. The book was first published in 1888.” - https://robertsongallery.wordpress.com/ridgway/
