1939 New York World’s Fair Aluminum and Cardboard Trivet

A metal and cardboard trivet which features the 1939 World’s Fair icons, the Trylon and Perisphere. The Perisphere was a tremendous sphere, 180 feet (55 m) in diameter, which housed the futuristic "Democracity" diorama. It connected to the 610-foot (190 m) spire-shaped Trylon by what was at the time the world's longest escalator. In addition there are intricate depictions of the Ford Building, Federal Bldg, Railroad Exhibit, and the New York State Exhibit and Amphitheatre.

As a child, I loved going with my mama and grandparents to yard sales, estate sales, and thrift stores as we shared the love of sifting for treasures. That tradition has been continued into my adulthood and I am honored to share my unique finds with you.
