1939 New York World’s Fair Unused Souvenir Matchbook

$23.06

Beautiful graphics on this predominantly blue and white matchbook featuring the Trylon and Perisphere from the 1939 World’s Fair in New York. The Perisphere was a tremendous sphere, 180 feet (55 m) in diameter, which housed the futuristic "Democracity" diorama. It connected to the 610-foot (190 m) spire-shaped Trylon by what was at the time the world's longest escalator.

On the front it says “World’s Fair of 1940 in New York, For Peace and Freedom”
The back shows the Lucky STrink building and inside the cover described the cigarette making demonstrations in the Lucky Strike Building

I was lucky enough to come across a collection of many unique and unusual items from the 1939 World’s Fair, so see my other listings for more of these unique items.

As a child, I loved going with my mama and grandparents to yard sales, estate sales, and thrift stores as we shared the love of sifting for treasures. That tradition has been continued into my adulthood and I am honored to share my unique finds with you.

Most items in my shop are vintage and are not brand new and come from estate sales. The items may show minor age-related wear and/or minor flaws consistent with the date of manufacture (please be sure to check photos carefully as they are part of the description). I do my best to describe any imperfections. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!
