A beautiful small hobnail decanter (12 oz). It has lots of character with its bellybutton closure on the bottom, air bubbles, and I am not sure if you can tell or not, but the sides of the spout are not the same height! It is a beautiful piece that would be great for a collector or conversation piece to add to your home decor. It is beautiful and functional and looks as amazing today as the day it was made (over 100 years ago!). It is ready to grace your home and table whether shabby chic, farmhouse, country, romantic, bohemian, rustic, or ????
DEW DROP (OMN) mod by Model Flint Glass Company/Findlay-Ohio/Albany-IN (Company Operated: 1888-1899), c1890s Introduced, AKA: Dewdrop
Approximately 8.75” tall with the stopper and 7” tall to the spout.
It is 3.25” wide and 3 ⅝” from spout to handle.
Holds 12 oz.
Chips at the base of the stopper.
Row of hobnails at the seam below the handle of the decanter are rough, but I think that is due to manufacturing and not chips.
10 rings on the handle and 12 rows of hobnails.
Old glass contains Manganese dioxide (it will glow green with a 365nm UV light).
The pattern on the bottom is not a flaw. These cruets were made by pressing the glass upside down in the mold, taking them out and closing the bottom by hand with a special tool (the cut-shut method). The closure mark usually looks like a squiggle. The glass makers who closed this cruet was quiet skilled and the closure looks like a swirling star.
