Beautiful, elegant and functional, this cruet is sturdy enough to grace your table today. It has a light lavender hue because this older glass was made with manganese dioxide and exposed to sun over the years. This turned it a pale lavender. Because it contains manganese, it will glow green under a 365 nm light. It will compliment your home decor, whether shabby chic, farmhouse, country, romantic, bohemian, rustic, primitive, or ????
Little residue on the inside of the cruet.
Approximately 6.5” tall with stopper and 5.5” tall at the spout.
3” wide. 3.5” long with handle.
I do not think it is the original stopper. Some chips on the bottom of the stopper.
Chips on the inner rim of the cruet where the stopper goes.
CRYSTAL GLASS CO. OHIO No. 9 (OMN) by Crystal Glass Company/Bridgeport-Ohio (Company Operated: 1888-1907), 1890 Introduced, AKA: Big Button
MOTIFS: Buttons, Fine Cut, Hexagon, Large
The pattern on the bottom is not a flaw. These cruets were made by pressing the glass upside down in the mold, taking them out and closing the bottom by hand with a special tool (the cut-shut method). The closure mark usually looks like a squiggle. The glass makers who closed this cruet was quiet skilled and the closure looks like a swirling star.
