A beautiful 19th century handblown vase from the Victorian era with handpainted floral motifs and a ruffled rim. The outside has more of a matte finish and the inside and base have the gloss often associated with opaline glass. Tiny air bubbles are trapped throughout the glass and the pontil mark is visible on the bottom. The gilding along the rim and base has rubbed off in many places. It is a perfect gift for a loved one or for the collector.
The glass is translucent which can be seen in the picture with a hand holding the vase.
The faint glow in some of the pictures is from manganese that is within the glass.
No noted chips or cracks.
Approximately 9.5” tall and 4.5” wide.
This is old glass which contains Manganese dioxide (it will glow green with a 365nm UV light).
