Wooden Sock darner with Hidden Needle Storage | Darning Mushroom with Metal Tension Band

This classic (circa 1940s) wooden sock darner, often called a darning mushroom, features a beautifully turned solid hardwood handle and a smooth, rounded top designed to stretch fabric taut for mending socks, sweaters, and linens. The handle unscrews to access the needle storage. This particular piece has managed to retain its original, removable metal tension ring/collar which was used to secure the material for the handstitching (think modified embroidery hoop). A collectible sewing supply, this toadstool shaped tool is perfect for modern fiber artists, historical re-enactors, visible mending enthusiasts, or as a charming primitive accent piece for farmhouse and cottage core decor displays.

The wood is darner is solid wood and has worn spots on the surface from use that is commensurate with age. The metal ring has some patina and a few very tiny spots where it might be beginning to rust.

Approximately 4” long and 2 ⅜” wide.
