A bit of tangible history from World War II, this wool American Legion Hat that belonged to Earl C. Johnson, PFC Army Air Forces in World War II. As Mr. Johnson passed away in 1960, this hat is from the late 1940s-1950s. Perfect for a history buff or collector of World War II memorabilia.
There are a few moth holes in the wool and fading typical for a hat of this age (see pictures for details).
On one side is embroidered ‘American Legion, Glendale Calif’ and a pin that reads Glendale Post N. 127, Earl C. Johnson.’
The other side of the hat has 20-year service (20 embroidered in a star) and 127 embroidered below there are also 2 coppered colored pins with wings, one with a 38 in the center and the other a 39.
Inside is a leather band and the hat is size 6 ⅞. The Millinery Worker’s maker’s tag is numbered 4796355
