Vintage Operation Deep Freeze USCGC Glacier Plaque 1966-1968 | Antarctica Research

Commemorative wooden shield plaque with a cast metal medallion. The dark-stained wood base has a shield shape and a polished finish. A circular metal emblem is centered on the wood, featuring the 'Operation Deep Freeze' insignia with a penguin, bee, ship, and plane. A small rectangular metal plate is mounted below the emblem with engraved text. This historical military collectible is from the late 1960s. Official military records indicate that Raymond J. White continued his career within the service, appearing in subsequent U.S. Coast Guard officer and warrant officer promotion rosters.

USCGC Glacier history-The Navy-to-Coast Guard Transfer: The Glacier was originally a U.S. Navy icebreaker (AGB-4).
